Francis Xavier
At first, Francis Xavier used Dainichi (大日如来 Vairocana) to designate the name of the Christian God in his Japan mission.
He was therefore regarded by the people as one of the Shingon monks(真言宗).
Later, when he learned more about the meaning of the word, he changed the term to "Deusu", from the Latin word "Deus".
