[Owl]Misera Dido 4- Virgil

Aeneid IV, 356-361 - Virgil:

"Nunc etiam interpres divom, Iove missus ab ipso
"Furthermore, the messenger of the gods, on Jove's own errand

- testor utrumque caput -
- I swear by us both -

celeris mandata per auras detulit;
rushed instructions down to me.

ipse deum manifesto in lumine vidi intrantem muros,
I saw the god with my own eyes, as clear as day, coming within the city walls,

vocemque his auribus hausi.
and heard his voice with my own ears.

Desine meque tuis incendere teque querelis:
So spare the anguish you give us both with your reproaches.

Italiam non sponte sequor."
Italy is not my choice of home."
